Ever since my daughter brought to my attention the standard of living that a pig bred for consumption endures I have been passionate about fighting for swine rights. Even in Australia where animal standards are said to be 'the best in the world' many pigs live in small confined spaces where they can barely turn around.
So, what else do you do with 100 acres and a passion? Commence building a pig sty for free range pigs of course!
Chris has this fantastic idea for the walls making them out of cord logs (all from our own property). This is the progress of our Pig Palace that should hopefully have some little piglets in there soon. Until then however I think Chris looks as happy as a pig in mud.
What can you do to ensure you buying ethical meat? buy from a free range farm or look for the sow stall free logo on your pork.
